SEC filing history

Filings Dataset

Filing history is the base layer for disclosure research.

Query filing counts by year, form, ticker, and date window without turning every analyst workflow into SQL plumbing.

Investor use cases

  • Measure issuer filing cadence.
  • Backtest event strategies by form family.
  • Build coverage checks before deeper extraction.

Workflow

  • Use `/v1/analytics/query` with dataset `filings`.
  • Filter by ticker, CIK, form, or date window when supported by the query contract.

Provenance

  • Derived from SEC filing history surfaces.
  • Counts should be interpreted at the accession or filing-record level, depending on the query.

Analytics query

Example

{"dataset":"filings","dimensions":["year","form"],"measures":["count"],"filters":{"ticker":"AAPL"},"limit":20}

Limitations

  • Filing counts are not the same as rendered filing coverage or extracted section coverage.
  • Amendments and form variants need explicit handling in research design.
